By adding a filing cabinet, a desk and a comfortable chair, you are creating the most perfect environment to work from home. You can customise your working area in whichever way you desire, maybe by adding some calming artwork or plants. Maybe even a nice seating area to hold those all important business meetings. You could even add a small en suite.

There is no need for you to look any further with regards to extras for your cabin either, as we offer a large range of additional extras with our log cabins such as a heating and cooling pack which acts as an air conditioning unit saving you much of your hard earned cash than most air conditioning units which are currently on the market. You can even control them from your mobile phone! Electric packs are also available providing that essential electricity you will need for your electrical devices such as your computer or laptop. These electric packs come in a range of sizes, from packets which contain just 1 Double Socket and 1 Lighting Feed, to a pack which includes 8 double sockets, 4 Lighting Feeds, Outdoor Light and Sensor Pack and 2 Network and Telephone Sockets. Home Office log cabins are becoming more and more popular in the UK due to people working longer hours and the fact they create a calmer, more personal place to work. No need to shop or browse no further as we are confident we will have exactly what you are looking for, if not more!

With regards to installing your cabin, if you are confident to build yourself, we include all the fixtures and fittings you will require and the full set of instructions. You will simply need some tools, a pencil and a spirit level. If you are not so confident in carrying out the build yourself we do offer an installation service for an additional charge which is usually carried out over 1-3 days. This will provide you with peace of mind your cabin is being erected to the highest level by professionals.

Home Office log cabins can really make a great feature to your garden instead of creating an eye sore. With different roofing options available such as Felt or Shingles. Shingles are available in different colour options making your building even more personal. With double glazing windows and doors available and a choice of opening or fixed windows. If you are thinking of insulating the walls and/or floor of the building, this is also something we can offer as well as a humidity fan preventing condensation. Our log cabins are provided unpainted, giving you the choice to paint the building whichever way you desire. You will just need to choose a water based colour for wooden, outdoor buildings. The possibilities are endless. What better way to add value to your home!

Lots of people dream of working from home. It’s an attractive prospect with no commuting and being able to walk from bed to desk in your pyjamas. Who wouldn’t want the convenience? Unfortunately, for the majority of us working from home is isn’t practical, usually because there isn’t a spare room that can be turned into a home office.

If you work from home infrequently, you can probably set up a workspace in the living room or take up residence at the kitchen table. This shouldn’t cause too much inconvenience to anyone else at home and as long as it isn’t too noisy, it is possible to be very productive under such circumstances. However, if you need to work from home on a full-time basis, perhaps because you are setting up your own business, constructing a home office should be your first priority because it will make life a lot easier.

Log cabins are a practical solution to the home office problem. If you turn a spare room into a home office, you lose access to that room for any other purpose. Or, if you don’t have a space you can set aside for an office, you are then forced to work in all kinds of random places, which might not be convenient or comfortable.

Creating a cosy home office outside will give you ample space, plus a healthy dose of peace and quiet. As long as you choose the right log cabin for your home office, the end result will be a useful, functional place where you can be productive throughout the year.

How Much Space Do You Need?

Before you start making plans for a log cabin, you need to decide how much space you need. The smaller the log cabin, the less space you will have to work in. If the work space is only for you and you need little more than room for a desk, chair and perhaps a few shelves, a small log cabin tucked away in a corner of the garden should suffice. But if you need plenty of room to spread out or will be working with other people, you should look at larger log cabins.

Apex Roof Design

Roof design is also important. Log cabins with apex rooms are more appropriate for home offices because they offer more headroom inside the building. An apex roof has two sloping sides that meet in the middle. It’s a traditional design, but effective nonetheless.

The alternative is a pent roof, which is high on one side and then slopes down on the other. This type of design works well if you are using a log cabin for storage purposes, but there will be less headroom in the part of the cabin where the roof drops down, so bear this in mind when shopping for a home office log cabin.

Working All Year Round

Wall thickness is another important consideration if you are shopping for a new log cabin to use as a home office. Cabins with thinner walls won’t provide enough insulation from the cold weather, so your home office will be unusable for several months of the year – which is fine if you only work a few hours a week, but not so good if you are starting a business from scratch.

If you are planning to use your home office all year round, look for log cabins with tongue and groove walls at least 44mm thick, as this will be enough insulation to keep the cold and damp out. Log cabins with walls that are 70mm thick are even warmer, so if you are on a tight budget, consider sacrificing some floor space in favour of thicker walls.

Light, Bright and Airy

Light is very important in a home office. Without lots of natural light, it’s easy to feel as if you are locked up in a windowless cell, which is not good for productivity. Smaller log cabins usually only have one window and door, so upgrading to a larger log cabin with glazed patio doors that open out into the garden might be a good move. Alternatively, choose a log cabin with several windows so you have lots of natural light and ventilation.

Log cabins benefit from landscaping, as this helps the structure blend in to its surroundings. If you are planning to install a home office in your garden, landscaping is very important. Even a few hanging baskets and tubs of flowers will make a difference, so don’t neglect this aspect of the process.
